I am a criminal defense attorney with over 17 years of experience representing individuals facing a wide range of charges—from DUII and domestic violence to sex offenses(Sex Abuse, Rape, Jessica’s Law, and child pornography) and major felonies(Murder, Robbery, Burglary, Assault, Measure 11).

I started my career at Public Defender Services of Lane County, Inc., and spent 16 years there, including a year as Assistant Director before transitioning to private practice.  Over that time, I built a reputation as a calm, dedicated, and skilled criminal defense attorney.  In 2025, I entered private practice so I could focus more directly on the individuals I serve, offering personalized, responsive legal representation.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, I earned my B.A. in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame and my J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law. I moved to Oregon for law school and quickly fell in love with the state.
I bring a calm, experienced, and patient approach to every case. I am passionate about ensuring that every client is heard, supported, and vigorously defended. I want to use my deep knowledge of the law and court system to help clients navigate the complexities of the criminal justice system with clarity and compassion.

Outside the courtroom, I enjoy reading, gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time with my family and dogs.

Max Lentz

Max hails from Madison, Wisconsin, where he spent the first 22 years of his life.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin School of Business, Max relocated to
Eugene, Oregon, for law school at the University of Oregon School of Law. In his legal
practice, Max focuses on criminal defense and protective orders in all counties and
cities in Oregon. Max believes that the courtroom and lawyers should be more
accessible to everyone in need of legal counsel. An avid outdoorsman, in his free time,
Max enjoys exploring everything the beautiful mountains, coastline, trails, and deserts
that make up Oregon.
